| The women I grew up with were bakers. I spent hours in the kitchen with my late Grandmother and still to this day one of my happiest places in life is in the kitchen with my dear Mummy. During my childhood I learned to bake. I learned to bake in the manner of a pinch of this and a pinch of that; no recipes, just love and lots of flavor. I learned about Cake Flour and making whipped cream from scratch and grating fresh nutmeg into food. The food I learned about came from Farmer's Markets instead of the grocery store. I learned about mixing a cake with a wooden spoon in a decades old bowl. I learned about lemon oil and how it bubbles fragrantly to the top of a lemon skin when squeezed or rolled across a counter. Now that I'm an adult there is something so gratifying and peaceful about baking a cake from scratch and filling the house with the smell of a dessert or cooking a meal for a loved one. It calls to mind those moments with my Grandmother Rose and my Mummy Donna, the lessons they've taught me which weren't called to mind or fully appreciated until I became an adult. I'm happy to share those with you today with all 15 of our flavors at layers Cupcakes Layers Cupcakes was founded in 2006 out of a love for good food most of all cupcakes :-) and a desire to share my unique experiences at my Grandmother's and Mummy's shoulder with the rest of Los Angeles. They broke the mold with their accomplishments and passed that on to my sister and I; We've said it before we like to live outside the conventional cupcake pan. We need two days notice for an order. If you need them that same day we'll try to accommodate you but we ask that you call!
